Revised official figures have re-evaluated China’s economic growth in 2021 from the initial estimate of 8.1% to 8.4%, leaving expectations for 2022 growth figures to be lower than expected.
China’s 2021 GDP was worth around $1.51 trillion, dominated by tertiary-sector services (53.5%) and mining, manufacturing and construction industries (39.3%).
Chinese financial data traditionally includes preliminary estimates delivered within three weeks of the next year, and final estimates around the next year’s end. Forecasts for 2022 show a likely 3% growth.
